The day

The day will start for each team from when you register in the morning. Everyone will receive an event pack and briefing which includes details on the course and the order in which it needs to be completed.

The day will comprise of mental tasks to be completed at checkpoints situated around the 3 legs of the course. Each leg of the course will comprise of both physical and mental challenges.

Pre-event, teams will be allocated with their start times. Teams from universities that are located closest to the event will be allocated earlier start times than those who are travelling from farther distances. The earliest start time will be 9.30 am and the latest will be 11.30 am with the event being scheduled to finish by no later than 5.30 pm.

BBQ and refreshments will be available for all participants from 3.00 pm onwards, with the prize-giving ceremony starting from 5.00 pm.

Throughout the day there will be opportunities to visit the headline sponsor's stand where you will also be able to take part in a variety of games and competitions to be in with a chance of winning even more prizes!

The Course

The course has been designed to take no longer than 4 hours for someone of average fitness, who cycles at a leisurely pace and who walks the last leg.

The course has 3 legs:

  • Walking/Running - 3 miles
  • Canoeing - 0.5 miles
  • Cycling - 12 miles

PLEASE NOTE: The scoring system reflects a team's ability to complete and do well at each of the checkpoint tasks and their ability to complete the course rather than just their outright speed around the course.

Each of the checkpoints will be run by one of the event's supporters. The tasks at each checkpoint will take approximately 10minutes to complete and will test each team's mental ability whilst also assessing different competencies. From a participant's perspective the tasks are designed not only to be challenging and fun but also provide an insight into the type of exercises/games that businesses often use to assess students for graduate jobs.
