Qualifying
To qualify, you need to complete two levels of exams and the CIMA Test of Professional Competence in Management Accounting (TOPCIMA). In addition, you need to gain a minimum of three years’ relevant practical experience.

• Advising managers on the costs and benefits of special projects
• Explaining the financial consequences of management decisions and suggesting possible courses of action
• Monitoring spending and effectiveness of financial control
• Evaluating existing financial information systems and suggesting improvements
• Preparing periodic financial statements for managers
• Explaining business drivers.

Degree types
For direct entry to the CIMA Professional Qualification you will need to have studied a relevant qualification such as a business or accountancy degree. Students from non-relevant backgrounds can gain entry by completing the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting.
