What's a typical event like?
There is no typical event as each one is tailored to the needs of the organisations involved. Having said that, there are common elements to all of our events, many of which are outlined below.
Format
This varies depending on the event. Our larger programmes tend to run for one or two days, although we also run half-day programmes and evening receptions. We also run ongoing university challenges (eg the npower energy challenge) which can span a few months and the CSET Summer School is a week-long residential legal programme located in London.
Exercises
All the exercises we run are unique to an event, although we incorporate certain types of exercises into most events. For example:
- Case studies
- Business games
- Structured sessions with senior professionals
- Office tours
- Skills and competence workshops
- Application and interview workshops
- Group work with graduate recruiters
- Structured networking opportunities
These exercises are similar to what you'd expect at an assessment centre, so it's a good way of honing your skills in a relaxed, fun and informal environment.
Event locations
We tend to hold our events at our sponsors’ offices. At most events, students will visit more than one of the offices, and be given guided tours as well. So, as you can see, attending a TARGETevents is a sure way to get your foot in the door. Literally.
